Car history: |
Up for auction is a 1972 Ontario orange Corvette convertible. I'm not sure of the correct mileage and the speedometer has been replaced, but the old speedometer had 84,000 miles. I have owned this car for three years and put many new parts and upgrades into it. This car is not perfect but with very little work could be a perfect show car. The car is bone stock except for the engine and transmission which were both rebuilt less then 4000 miles ago and it has only been driven on dry sunny, summer weekends and always garaged under a cover. As for the Body the paint has nice luster but is not perfect. It has some issues such as chips and small scratches but overall looks great and I get compliments every time I take it out. The only problem other than that is the very tip of the hood is 1/8 inch higher than the front fascia. The body was the last thing on my list and as I said it's not perfect but very acceptable. The interior has black vinyl seats with new front carpets, dash pad and center console .All gages work except the clock and tachometer (no tach drive distributor). I have new the tachometer cable. I have not installed rear carpet yet because I haven't decided on a stereo system yet. As far as the drive train, the engine is a four- bolt main, 350 .030 over with new Edelbrock manifold and carburetor. There are headers connected to a new exhaust system. The engine builder estimates it at 300 horsepower. The transmission is a rebuilt turbo 350 with a B& M shift kit. As above both have less then 4000 miles. I do not race the car but it will chirp tires in second and third gears. The frame is straight and rust free except some light surface rust. The front end is tight. The rear end has been replaced with a new cruising rear at a gear ratio of 337, the old rear had a gear ratio of 411 which will also be included with the car. All rear bearings, universals, brakes and brake master cylinder have been replaced within the last year. Tires, trimrims and top have also been replaced recently. The work needed includes windshield wiper motor and vacuum lines to wiper doors. Rear carpet needs to be installed, hood alignment and clock need to be fixed or replaced. |
